Faculty Introduction
My name is Dr. Mitchell
Miller, CFP®. Personally and professionally, I’m an entrepreneur, educator,
author, and practicing Certified Financial Planner®, residing in Boynton Beach,
Florida.
In a previous
career, I was a corporate executive and senior manager for twenty-plus years
with such global, integrated professional service firms such as KPMG LLP,
Arthur Andersen LLP, and Lincoln Financial Advisors. I have been privileged to
serve as a vice president for a private, Miami-based, $150 million financial
services organization and for more than 14 years was a regional consultant and
manager for a publicly held corporation.
Academically, I
earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Brooklyn College, Master of
Business Administration in Corporate Finance from Pace University’s graduate
school of business, and attended the College for Financial Planning, completing
the CFP® Professional Education Program. My DBA in finance was earned from the
H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business & Entrepreneurship, Nova Southeastern
University. My dissertation subject was Modern Portfolio Theory.
As a practicing Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), I provide investment advisory and financial planning services for my clientele. I also research and write articles on investment related subjects.

Course Description & General Outcomes
This course teaches students individual and group behavior in
organizations. Students develop an understanding of how organizations can be
managed more effectively. Course content includes motivation, group dynamics,
conflict resolution, goal setting and rewards, job design, work stress,
power/politics, and organizational change and development. This course teaches

Upon
completion of this course, students should
- become familiar with the basic principles and concepts related to organizational behavior. The student will develop an understanding of the foundations of organizational behavior, as well as the various factors influencing organizational behavior;
- gain knowledge about the foundations of individual behavior and understand how an individual’s behavior, attitude, and characteristics influence workplace interactions;
- understand the relationship between individual processes and organizational behavior;
- become familiar with the foundations of group behavior and understand the relationship between interpersonal processes and the organization;
- understand the role of leadership in managing individual and group behavior within the organization;
- understand the different methods, processes, and practices involved in establishing and maintaining formal organizational structures; and
- understand the factors associated with organizational change and work stress, and become familiar with the approaches used to manage organizational change and work stress.

Course Attendance and Participation Policy
During the first week of class, you
must complete an activity from the online orientation or you will be withdrawn
from the course. Simply logging into the course will not satisfy your
attendance during this time. As with an on-campus course, students who are
reported for non-attendance in an online course and are withdrawn are still
responsible for paying for the course. If you do not complete the
requirements of the first week of class, you should drop the course by the
official drop/add deadline or expect to pay for the course.
It is very important for you to
actively participate in this online class. If you stop participating in class
discussions, do not submit assignments, or fail to take quizzes or tests prior
to the withdrawal date, you will be withdrawn from class and receive a W or, if
it is your third attempt, an F.
If you stop participating after the withdrawal date, you will receive an F. To avoid this situation, you should remain an active learner in this class and always communicate extenuating circumstances to your instructor. Ongoing communication with the instructor is critical to your course success. Completion of tests, assignments, and other class activities are used as indicators of your participation in order to satisfy this reporting requirement. Methods of Instruction
This is a 3-credit hour fully online
course with/without proctored exams. In this class, you will engage in
structured out-of-class and online activities. The online activities may
include, but are not limited to, readings, discussions, essays, case studies,
research, and/or online quizzes and tests. See the course schedule for a
detailed description of activities. Students are responsible for regularly
reviewing the course schedule and completing all required assignments.
